Simon is the third generation of cellists in his family. He studied at London’s Royal College of Music (2000-2004) with Leonid Gorokhov. Other teachers include Franz Helmerson, Natalia Gutman and his father Raphael Wallfisch. He began his musical career as a freelance orchestral cellist, regularly playing with the English Chamber Orchestra. He has also played with the Royal Philharmonic, London Mozart Players and the London Symphony Orchestra. He is in demand as a teacher, teaching at the Royal College of Music as assistant to Raphael Wallfisch.
He has made several arrangements for cello, voice and piano and
these have brought him to concert halls around the world, including Berlin Konzerthaus, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, London’s Royal Festival Hall and Kings Place.
