British German baritone Simon Wallfisch made debuts in 2023 for the ROYAL BALLET AND OPERA COVENT GARDEN in the role of Deputato Fiammingi in DON CARLO and as Richter in Kongold’s DAS WUNDER DER HELIANE at the DEUTSCHE OPER BERLIN and since 2023 has been engaged as Chor-Solist at the Komische Oper Berlin, singing several solo and ensemble roles.
Simon Wallfisch was initially engaged as a member of the INTERNATIONAL OPERA STUDIO at OPERNHAUS ZURICH from 2009 to 2011 and subsequently has appeared in such roles as Fieramosca in BENVENUTO CELLINI for STAATSOPER NÜRNBERG, for ENGLISH TOURING OPERA has appeared as both Pelléas in PELLÉAS ET MÉLISANDE and Albert in WERTHER and in 2024 has performed the title role in the company’s season of Judith Weir’s BLOND ECKBERT at the ALDEBURGH FESTIVAL.
As a concert singer, Simon Wallfisch made his WIGMORE HALL debut in 2017, and has performed there several times since, he has appeared several times at the OXFORD LIEDER FESTIVAL, LONDON SONG FESTIVAL, include as soloist with the ACADEMY OF ST. MARTIN IN THE FIELDS in its CONNECT – LOVE, LIES & JUSTICE series of streamed performances in 2020, in CARMINA BURANA at the BERLIN PHILHARMONIE, and curator and soloist with the BBC SINGERSin the BBC‘s TOTAL IMMERSION series at London’s BARBICAN CENTRE in 2021.
2023/2024 has included Jonathan Dove’s IN EXILE with the FILHARMONIA POZNAŃSKA and recitals in the Chamber Series of the SLOVAK PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA and in the LEEDS LIEDER series.
2025/2026 includes his solo debut with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Wroclaw Filhamonica and recital at the Wigmore Hall.
He is amassing a steady output of recordings, including Songs by Geoffrey Bush (Lyrita 2015), Songs by Caplet, Honegger, Milhaud and Ravel (Nimbus 2017), Gesänge des Orients (Nimbus 2018), Songs by Thea Musgrave (Lyrita 2019), Songs by Robin Holloway (Delphian 2019) Schumann Lieder (Resonus 2019), Brahms Lieder (Resonus 2020) and Kowalski Lieder (Nimbus 2023).
Wallfisch is a graduate of the ROYAL COLLEGE OF MUSIC and of the HANNS EISLER HOCHSCHULE FÜR MUSIK in Berlin and the HOCHSCHULE FÜR MUSIK UND THEATER FELIX MENDELSSOHN-BARTHOLDY in Leipzig.
